Chalkboard Wall - Michael Godard, Matrix Martini (Fan Art)

Michael Godard, Matrix Martini - Chalkboard Wall Fan Art
It was my husbands Birthday this weekend, and he has always been a huge Michael Godard fan. The Matrix Martini is his absolute favorite painting, but sadly we cannot currently afford to buy a print. I therefore decided to recreate this painting on our chalkboard wall for his Birthday. I drew this one freehand, using a picture from his book as a reference.
Here are the progress photos. I hope you enjoy.

Bearspaw Old Time Country Fair

I entered my very first country fair this weekend! It was held in a local arena, and was full of exhibits. This years fair theme was Denim at work or play.

I have always been fairly nervous about showing my artwork to real public (read not online) but I decided to go with it as this fair has a real laid back attitude about it. It's not a stuffy art show.

I submitted 9 entries altogether, 4 photos and 5 crafty things, and I got ribbons on all my entries and one photo was even featured in their main diplay! Exciting! Admittedly though, for some of the categories I was the only entry so took automatic first place. Hahaha. I guess strategic category selection plays a big key.
Here are a few photos of my entries.
Mixed Media, Ink and Bleach, "Kelly" - First Place (out of one entry)

Craft-Other, Ribbon Roses - Second Place
Ceramics-From Mould, "This little piggy" - First Place (out of one entry)
Woodwork- by machine, Jigsaw Bear, First Place (out of one entry)
Glasswork, Etched Glass Mirror, "Dragon" - First Place
Photography-Portrait, Arthur 4 Months, "Surprise" - First Place
Photography-Wild Animals, "Lorquins Admiral" butterfly - Second Place
Photography-Wild Birds, Roufous Hummingbird - Second Place
Photography - Fair Theme Denim at work or Play, Arthur... "How long have you been farming?" - First Place. This photo was featured in the main fair display!!

Sensory Bottles

As i am leaving tomorrow on a road trip, I thought I would whip up a few quick sensory bottles to keep my son occupied on our 7 hour car trip. It will be good to give him something he has not seen before.

Owl Pillow

Owl Pillow
I had a few bits of material left over from making my Sister-in-law her Jelly Roll Floor Pillow so I decided to use them to make a pillow, and medallion for the floor pillow to coordinate the two with an owl theme.
I saw a cute owl punch set by Stampin' up. I wanted these to be much bigger than the punch though, so I found another blog with a nice picture of the assembled product. I then enlarged that to the size I wanted on my laptop monitor and VERY carefully, so as not to damage my screen, traced the pieces onto my fabric. I used the circular patterns already found in the fabric for the different eyes.

I do not have any pictures of these two being stuffed, as I will be sending them in luggage from Canada to Austraila. I am sure my SIL will send me some pictures once they are all put together... right Ali?? :D

See Part 1 here where I recovered my old pillows.
I have finally filled all my frames on my photo collage wall so I have to show you.

Little Tikes Coupe Makeover

Little Tikes Coupe Makeover  - Stamp of approval!

I have been seeing lots of Little Tikes makeovers on Pinterest lately. I am a bit sceptical about the longevity of this project because of mixed reviews I have read. However, I figure that if it makes for one really good photoshoot with my son it will be money and time well spent.

Jelly Roll Floor Pillow

Jelly Roll Floor Pillow

I found this tutorial for making a giant floor pillow and I fell in love.
Moda Bake Shop: Jelly Roll Floor Pillow

I followed their directions, but made a couple changes as I only wanted one pillow, and I had different materials to work with.

Forward Facing Bookshelf

Forward Facing Bookshelf Before and After
I always like to start off with a good old Before and After shot!

When I was sourcing materials for my DIY Framed Mirror in my Bathroom Makeover Project I scored 15 lenghts of baseboard trim for $15 on kijiji from someone with leftovers from a reno project.. I only used 3 lenths for the mirror trim so I was roaming around my house thinking of other projects I could use this in.

For some time I have been pinning loads of ideas on my Pinterest page with ideas for bookshelves for my sons room. I saw all sorts of ideas, rain gutters, ikea spice racks, ikea picture ledges, and finally some baseboard shelving. There are so many different ways to attach baseboard shelving, and mine is another way but depending on your space one of these other links may help you.

Bathroom Makeover

Before                                         After
Before                                        After
Well the makeover to our ensuite has taken almost a month to complete. My husband has been very (ok at times not so very) patient with me while I renovated "his" bathroom. The only reason I started this at all is that we had 2 plaster patches on our wall from where a towel bar got ripped off nearly 4 years ago. I decided to use the leftover kitchen paint to finally paint the bathroom, but once the ball was rolling I found that I just wanted to do "just one more thing".

Chalkboard Wall - Star Wars

As part of my Kitchen Makeover I added a huge chalkboard wall. Here is what I have done so far.

I thought it would be fun if I could transfer some coloring pages onto my new chalkboard wall.

Kitchen Makeover - The Chalkboard Wall

You can check out the rest of my kitchen makeover here.

I had taken more photos on attaching the rails to the wall, but unfortunately the files were corrupted when I transferred them to my computer.

I will give you the basics:

Kitchen Makeover

I started with the idea that I wanted to make a giant chalkboard wall in my kitchen for when my son gets older. I have always enjoyed arts and crafts and I hope that I can share that with him.

Toe Painting - Sensory Play "Head over heels in love"

I have followed a few links on pinterest about sensory play. Since my son is way too little to be finger painting yet, I came up with the idea to do a jolly jumper toe painting to combine with some sensory play for my son.

I started out with a piece of poster board and taped out a  L<3 ve  using painters tape. I was hoping the tape wouldn't stick to the paper but it kinda did, especially when wet and was a bit hard to peel off. I think that using a glossy finger painting paper, or a canvas would work best for this, but I was just using what I had.

Jungle Themed Nursery - Completed Project

It all started with this wallpaper mural installation called Nature's Harmony

Jungle Themed Nursery - Dresser Makeover

I had some scraps lefotver from my Jungle Themed Wallpaper Mural project so I decided to give the dresser I had for the nursery a makeover.

The dresser that I started with was an HOPEN 4 Drawer Chest the panels on the drawer are a frosted glass which you can see the clothes through which I thought looked a bit messy.

Jungle Themed Nursery - Nature's Harmony Wallpaper Mural

I found this walpaper called Nature's Harmony and I fell in love with it instantly. Sears carried it for a while, and then discontinued it so I had to source it from the USA. (I now see that sears has it back in circulation) I tried to order from a place called Poster Revolution through Amazon. WORST customer service ever. Shipped the wrong product, then I returned it and they told me they didn't actually have my item in stock and i would have to wait an inderterminate amount of time. Needless to say I left them nasty feedback. Well they made me remove it before they would process a refund. DIRTY POOL!

Anyways, I found another store that had it in stock called Decor Place. Their service was phenominal. I ordered it and had it in less than 48 hours! Fantastic fantastic.

My mother and I were able to install the wall mural in about 6 hours.

My Mother-in-law loves making cards. See her blog here.

When I go to her house I like to get into her craft room and get creative. I'm still learning but here are some of the cards I have made so far.

Thank You Cards

Recover your old throw pillows

Part 1 of the skeleton key project...

Recovering some throw pillows I have that didn't match. Here a sneak peek at the finished 4 pillows.

Front

Reverse

Originally I came up with an idea to make a photo collage wall on one wall in my living room. I was thinking of ways that would make it unique so that it wasn't just frames. I have always had a bit of a fixation on old keys, and thought maybe I could find some skeleton keys to hang on the wall.
