Gingerbread House in a Jar

Gingerbread House in a Jar
There was a gingerbread house competition as part of our towns 30th annual christmas tree lighting ceremony. As i now have 2 children under 2, I certainly didnt have the time or space to go big. So i had an idea to kind of recreate the ship in a bottle idea in a gingerbread house. This may just be the next "big" thing in gingerbread houses.

I took second place in the adult category and got a ribbon and a plaque, and a generous gift card to spend at General Quarter, one of our towns local shops.

All wired with battery operated lights.
Chocolate base
The first attempt at the walls... no so sucessful. Doubled the cooking time for the second batch, and while not highly edible they were certainly more sturdy.
Test fitting the pieces.

Feltboard Creations

Here are a few of the felt board creations we have made so far. More to come!
Felt sock matching game

I had each person at my sons birthday party make a pair of matching socks using a template.

Frozen movie chalkboard wall

Certainly not my best creation yet. Disney princesses are hard to draw. I've never been great a drawing human figures but I thought I would try anyway. What do you think?

Word cloud chalkboard wall

For my 2yr olds birthday I decided to make a word cloud on our chalkboard wall of all the words he knew. It took about a month adding a few new words each day. Makes a great snapshot of time :)
Birthday word cloud - Chalkboard wall

Halloween chalkboard wall.

It is a lot more tricky these days to get a wall mural up having a 2yr old running around. I had to start during naptime, then leave the house for the afternoon and finish after bedtime.
